Provides general administrative and clerical support to a department, including calendar management, correspondence, and office supply maintenance. Additionally, assists with laboratory tasks such as specimen processing, accessioning patient materials into the LIS, and transcribing clinical information.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with up to one year of administrative experience preferred. Must possess working knowledge of MS Office Suite and basic reasoning skills.
This position will have flexible scheduling that will work at least 28hrs/week with the option to decrease or increase hours based on volume/needs. It is considered full-time and eligible for full-time benefits.

Under direct supervision, provides general administrative support to a department or group of professionals.Performs routine clerical functions, such as copying, sorting, filing, and typing. Sets up and maintains varied office files, logs, and records office activities.Orders office supplies and maintains office equipment. Answers, screens, and routes incoming calls and messages. Responds to routine questions.Greets, screens, and directs visitors to appropriate staff member.Maintains supervisor's calendar (i.e., schedules meetings and recurring events, schedules large conference rooms, orders food, ensures applicable equipment is available and ready for meeting, may take meeting minutes). Sorts, distributes, prioritizes and composes routine correspondence following established procedures not requiring management review. (i.e., reads correspondence/ highlights important items and sends to supervisor, sends emails sent on behalf of dept head, writes and sends meeting reminders, forwards emails to appropriate distribution list on behalf of department head).Assists in researching, drafting, and/or abstracting routine reports. Compiles and analyzes basic information. Helps supervisor and department prepare presentations (i.e., edits, prints, basic formatting functions).May assist with processing of specimens and/or packaging specimens according to testing specifications.May assist in the collection of specimens according to established procedures. Receive, triage, and accession patient materials (specimens, slides, paraffin blocks) into laboratory information system (LIS), adhering to turn around-time deadlines to ensure timely patient results. Checks patient records for accuracy and completeness, taking corrective steps as necessary. Review patient records to determine appropriate consultative pathologist and/or laboratory. Determine patient insurance status and source of consultation to ensure appropriate billing. Transcribe diagnosis and other clinical information into LIS. Make corrections and edits to reports as per pathologist instruction.
