Perform and assist with advanced cardiovascular procedures including cardiac catheterization and angioplasty. Manage patient imaging via PACS, ensure radiation safety, and maintain aseptic techniques during high-stakes interventions.
Requires graduation from an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist certification. Must hold ARRT, RCIS, or RCES certification and CPR certification, with ACLS desired or required during orientation.
Ensures all images within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through the PACS, and are properly networked to appropriate electronic record for archival and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the procedures performed. Maintains continuing education and competency requirements for position Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data. Documents patient history in electronic record as required Maintains point of care testing standards, including daily quality control, for devices used for procedures Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patient's fears and solicit their cooperation Demonstrate proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for all diagnostic and interventional procedures. Exhibits a clear understanding of correct patient preparation, equipment operations and patient monitoring systems Demonstrates competency in functioning in the first assist position Fosters an environment that supports aseptic technique during procedures and patient safety with the incorporation of a time-out process Administers contrast under the direction of the procedure physician Provides stand by call coverage, as scheduled, in accordance with system-wide stand by call procedure/policy Practices with attentiveness to radiation safety for the patient as well as others in the procedure room including appropriate use of lead shielding and monitoring devices. Assures documentation of patient radiation exposure in electronic record.
Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT-R) or Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS).
ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist required. CPR certification is required. ACLS certification is desired upon hire. Successful completion of ACLS certification required within orientation period. New graduates have 1 year to obtain their board certification.
