About the Role

• The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) PRN plays a critical role in supporting occupational therapists by delivering high-quality rehabilitative care to patients on an as-needed basis.
• This position focuses on assisting patients in regaining or improving their daily living and work skills through therapeutic activities and exercises tailored to individual needs.
• The OTA PRN collaborates closely with occupational therapists to implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and adjust interventions accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current and valid state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the United States.
• AHA Basic life support (BLS) certification.
• Demonstrated ability to follow treatment plans and work under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Must be able to work PRN during the week
• Experience working in diverse healthcare settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, or rehabilitation centers.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes.
• Additional certifications related to specialized therapy techniques or patient populations.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a PRN (as-needed) capacity.
• Bilingual skills or cultural competency training to better serve diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Assist occupational therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans designed to improve patients' functional abilities.
• Conduct therapeutic activities and exercises under the supervision of an occupational therapist to help patients regain skills.
• Monitor and document patient progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising therapist promptly.
• Prepare and maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support coordinated care.
• Adapt therapy techniques to meet the unique needs of each patient, considering physical, emotional, and cognitive factors.
• Comply with all healthcare regulations, safety standards, and organizational policies during patient care.
