Requires a High School diploma or GED and registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy. Candidates must possess a Pharm Tech Cert Board or EXCPT certification and have basic computer proficiency.

Communicates with Pharmacists and Nursing Staff to insure timely preparation and delivery of medications. Delivers medications including controlled substances to nursing areas and ancillary departments in accordance to established policies and procedures and DEA and DPH regulations.
Essential Responsibilities: Restocks floor stock/automated dispensing machines. Enters charges/credits against patient profile to ensure an accurate bill. Monitors medication order reports to assign medication to an automated dispensing machine. Delivers all medication in compliance with all DEA, DPH & State Board of Pharmacy regulations Prepares and delivers IV medications in accordance with Federal USP 797 & USP 800 standards. Maintains records pertaining to IV admixtures, maintains cleanliness in sterile areas, and completes QA. Repackages bulk supplies of medications in unit of use packaging & engages in non-sterile compounding in accordance with all Federal USP 795 & USP 800 standards. Checks for expired medications within the pharmacy & automated dispensing cabinets. Ensures that all expired/damaged medications are disposed of in accordance with RCRA, OSHA & NIOSH regulations. Prepares specialized sterile products including TPNs, neonatal, hazardous, and chemotherapeutic & study medications in accordance with Federal USO 797 standards. Maintain staffing in two or more areas of the pharmacy Required Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required. License Mass Registered Pharmacy Tech required., and Certificate 1 Pharm Tech Cert Board required., or Certificate 2 EXCPT required. 0-1 years related work experience required. Registration required with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician. This requirement is met upon completion of greater than 500 hours and not more than 1000 hours. A passing score of 75% is required of a board approved registration examination. Employee must remain in good standing with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy including maintenance of registration and fees. Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
Three to six months experience as a hospital pharmacy technician. Ability to perform simple and complex pharmaceutical calculations.
