Provides recovery training, peer support, and advocacy for patients in a behavioral health inpatient setting. Coordinates with clinical teams to help individuals achieve recovery goals and maintain a safe environment.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges. Must obtain Peer Support Specialist certification within 180 days and BLS certification upon hire.

A Brief Overview Provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services. Assists in maintaining a safe environment, acts as an advocate for the needs and rights of patients, provides empathic, active listening skills, engagement and support, case management and ensures a recovery-oriented environment throughout the unit. In addition, provides indirect unit support needs related to supplies and equipment.
Experience Qualifications Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use challenges Required and Healthcare student or comparable work experience in a health care environment Preferred
Skills and Abilities Excellent communication and behavioral management skills that promote safety Basic computer skills Ability to problem solve Ability to document per regulatory guidelines Effective communication skills
Licenses and Certifications Peer Employment Training - Certification as a Peer Support Specialist within 180 Days Required and BLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Upon Hire Required and Safety-Care Specialist within 60 Days Required Minimum of 18 years of age Required
