The Intake RN performs telephonic and in-person risk assessments to determine the appropriate level of care for potential patients. They coordinate the admission process and maintain communication between referral sources, families, and hospital staff.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited professional nursing program and hold a current Missouri State Board of Nursing license. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of experience in psychiatric or substance abuse treatment programs.
The Intake RN, under the supervision of the Intake Director, provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment to assist the physician in identification of appropriate level of care for potential patients. The Intake RN is the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff. The Intake RN works with the Business Office regarding patient financial data and verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed, as well as with the UR Department for the certification of patients admitted.
Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
2-3 years in substance abuse/psychiatric treatment programs, including experience in intake/admissions and managed care preferred.
