Responsible for performing radiological exams, preparing patients for procedures, and ensuring the quality and safety of radiographs. Duties include maintaining equipment, managing medical supplies, and transmitting digital images via PACS for interpretation.
Requires graduation from an accredited X-ray Technologists Program with ARRT registration and a TN State license. Candidates must have current CPR certification and at least one year of healthcare customer service experience.

American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) registration required.TN State license required Current CPR certification. Prepares patients for radiology procedures. Takes radiographs following established procedures for patient care and safety. Maintains high quality/quantity standards. Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials. Complies with all policies regarding safety, infection control and universal precautions. Prepares contrast media. Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports malfunction to supervisor. Logs radiology procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed. Maintains procedure room. Stocks necessary medical and radiology supplies. Perform light cleaning on procedure room. Produces X-Rays in a digital format and sends them via PACS System to the Radiologist for interpretation. Applicants may be asked to cross train in other specialty areas. Basic phone, computer, and copier skills required. Maintains certifications/registries, ARRT status and TN state license in good standing. Also, keep continuing education credits current. KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of x-ray procedures and protocols. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform x-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment, including safety hazards common to radiology. SKILLS: Skill in positioning patients properly. Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor. ABILITIES: Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients and families. ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to radiation, communicable diseases and other conditions common to a Radiology setting. Physical/Mental Demands: Must be able to lift 25 pounds and push and pull several hundred pounds Environment can be very busy and stressful Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people Work may require hand dexterity for Radiology equipment, stooping and bending to position patients and retrieve supplies Must have mobility to room patients, help patients onto table, complete errands. This position requires sitting and standing for long periods of time.
