The technician is responsible for documenting and interpreting patient cardiac rhythms to identify dysrhythmias and notifying nursing staff of life-threatening rhythms. They also maintain a safe environment and report equipment malfunctions to the clinical engineering department.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with strong communication and attention to detail. Previous experience as a nursing assistant, monitor technician, EMT, or PCT is preferred.
