Surgical Technologist, AHBD Surgery (Full-Time, Day Shift)

• Job Summary: Facilitates physician's performance of invasive and therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
• Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
• Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly monitoring the maintenance of the sterile field.
• Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology: Required Relevant acute care experience: Preferred Licenses/Certifications: National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certified: Preferred Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred Facility Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Certified Surgery Technician (CST) certification or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification: Required Essential Functions: Verifies surgery to be performed with consent forms and brings patient to assigned operating room.
• Passes instruments to surgeon during procedure.
• Anticipates surgeon's needs of additional supplies.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed.
• Prepares sterile dressings.
• Secures dressings after incision closure.
• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure.
• Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for procedure.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
• Helps drape sterile field.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assists other members of team with cleaning of room for turnover.
• Assists in prepping room for the next patient.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
