The role involves managing pre-surgical exams, administering anesthesia, and assisting board-certified surgeons during procedures. Additionally, the assistant is responsible for postoperative care, patient monitoring, and maintaining a sterile surgical environment.
Candidates must be a CA-RVT with at least 2 years of veterinary surgery experience and a high school diploma. Proficiency in anesthesia administration, drug calculations, and strong interpersonal skills are required.

As a member of the Surgery team you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures and the well-being of our patients. Some duties will include: Conduct pre-surgical examinations and obtain medical histories. Administer pre-anesthetic medications and monitor patient responses. Insert and manage IV catheters for fluid therapy and medication administration. Sterilize and set up surgical instruments and equipment. Assist in tissue handling, retraction, and other tasks as directed. Record all data accurately for the medical record. Adjust anesthesia levels and administer additional medications as needed. Provide postoperative care, including pain management and wound care. Ensure the surgical suite is disinfected and ready for the next procedure. Explain postoperative care instructions to pet owners and provide updates on the patient's condition. Accurately document all aspects of the surgical procedure, including anesthesia records, patient monitoring data, and postoperative care. Ensure the surgical area complies with veterinary medical standards and guidelines.
