Perform diagnostic tests using EEG machinery to measure electrical activity in the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. Maintain equipment, keep accurate patient records, and assist with sleep lab scheduling and intake.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and one year of related experience. CPR certification is required, and a certificate from an American Society of Electro-neurodiagnostic technologists accredited program is preferred.

Required Knowledge & Skills

Functions: Area of Responsibilities
*Prepares for medical procedures by obtaining medical histories and explaining proposes and procedures of the test to be performed.
*Conducts electroencephalographic testing and evaluate patterns formed by the brain to assist in the diagnosis of epilepsy, cardiovascular disease, or other brain lesions.
*Assist in nerve conduction studies to evaluate electrical potentials from peripheral nerve.
*Conducts polysomnograms to identify, evaluate dysfunction in the sleep wake cycles and breathing disorders or arrhythmias during sleep.
*Conducts electronystamograms measuring electrical potentials from the eyes to determine between inner ear disfunctions and central nervous system involvement.
*Oversees proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
*Keeps proper records of tests, results, diagnosis and subsequent patient treatment.
*Assists Sleep Lab staff with scheduling of appointments for both Sleep and EEG patients
*Assists Sleep Lab staff with distribution and intake of home study testing equipment. Employee will NOT be responsible or take part in the scoring of sleep exams.
*Provides exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and other employees. Through the established systems and protocols used to evaluate staff for excellent customer service employee will achieve the set goals.
*Responsible for maintaining all professional registrations and certifications
*Participates in performance improvement activities by helping to identify, monitor and achieve improvement goals established by the department.
*Acts as preceptor/mentor for students and new employees
*Knowledgeable of department policies and procedures and standards of care/practice
*Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of department and equipment
*Demonstrates behaviors necessary for age-specific care and knowledge of decision making process for all ages of the population(s) served. Demonstrates ability to communicate appropriately with various ages. Demonstrates ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of the patient served. As appropriate involves family/significant other in the treatment process.
*Accurately evaluates self and meets pre-established professional goals
*Maintain current CPR or BLS certification
*Communicates effectively and therapeutically in health care setting
*Demonstrates the ability to set priorities to complete daily assignments
*Participates in multi disciplinary patient care conferences.
*Participates in continuing education as mandated per policy.
*Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform portable monitoring equipment preparation and data download
*Demonstrate adherence to cleaning and disinfection procedures for portable monitoring devices
*Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by management.
Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline.
