The pharmacist is responsible for improving medication use and patient safety within a fast-paced emergency department, including responding to code blues. Key duties include managing high-risk patient populations, dosing medications, and precepting pharmacy residents.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited pharmacy school and licensed or eligible for licensure in North Carolina. A PGY1 residency is required, while a PGY2 in emergency medicine or critical care is preferred.
include responding to code blues throughout the hospital, actively taking a role in medication preparation and management of patients in high-risk patient populations (including but not limited to STEMI, acute ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, rapid sequence intubation, procedural sedation). Clinical activities including dosing of antimicrobials, anticoagulants, culture callbacks on discharged patients, etc. Oversight of medication reconciliation technicians and reviewing home medication lists after completion by the technicians along with precepting PGY1 and PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Resident are responsibilities that will be fulfilled in this role.
Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of NC PGY1 Pharmacy Practice residency or equivalent hospital experience required PGY2 residency training or equivalent emergency medicine and/or critical care training is preferred
