Perform diagnostic ultrasonography in Maternal Fetal Medicine, including patient positioning, image documentation, and physician assistance. Manage medical records, communicate findings to physicians, and maintain professional accreditation.
Requires an Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related Radiological Technology program. Must be ARDMS certified (or eligible within six months), ARRT eligible, and BLS CPR certified.
Overview This is a full-time position for an Ultrasonographer in Maternal Fetal Medicine within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The role is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasonography at a skilled technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. This position will require travel to all office locations, including contracted sites.
Patient Care and Job Knowledge - 70% Research and interpretation of patient’s medical history in relation to the examination. Set up ultrasound machine, determine the proper patient positioning and transducer selection to achieve accurate results. Perform ultrasound by documenting anatomy, saving appropriate images and charting information for diagnostic interpretation of physician. Knowledge of AIUM ultrasound protocols and departmental ultrasound protocols Provide excellent patient care Counsel patients before and after the ultrasound regarding the procedure, the results, and the implication of the results of the pregnancy. Assist physicians with invasive procedures. Medical Records Management and Communication – 20% Obtain appropriate medical history from the patient Prepare detailed ultrasound report for the physician to review and sign Clearly communicate all ultrasound findings and clinical relevant history to the physician Submit appropriate billing for the ultrasound examination Review EMR to ensure appropriate follow up appointments are scheduled Organizational Responsibilities – 10% Use good time management to complete assigned tasks Maintain ARDMS CME credits Attend ultrasound conferences, monthly education, meetings Obtain case studies for AIUM accreditation Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills: Associate’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography; or successful completion of a Radiological Technology program (or closely related field) and successful completion of a Medical Sonography program. Must be ARRT eligible. Must be ARDMS certified; or must become certified within the first six months of employment. Completion of BLS CPR course required with recertification every 2 years. Customer service oriented individual required. Ability to travel to multiple locations required. Student applicants within three (3) months of graduation/program completion will be considered. Student applicants must meet the minimum requirements of the position as a condition of employment.
Previous experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine or Obstetrics and Gynecology preferred.
