The Peer Recovery Coach facilitates conversations to help members create and meet recovery goals while promoting a recovery-centered culture. They also respond to critical mental health and addiction emergencies using high-level engagement and de-escalation skills.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and a Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification. Required experience includes one year of supporting individuals with behavioral health challenges and lived experience as a beneficiary of the public Behavioral Health system.

The Peer Recovery Coach I engages, inspires, and facilitates meaningful conversations with members served that assist the members to explore, create, and meet their own recovery goals. Peer Recovery Coaches provide consultation to the team to promote and reinforce Telecare’s Recovery Culture as defined by the Telecare Recovery Centered Clinical System (RCCS) in which each member’s point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into services and self-help programming. Additionally, Peer Recovery Coaches respond to critical situations with high-level engagement and de-escalation skills which support a least restrictive environment for members served experiencing an emergency related to a mental health/addiction challenge.
Expected starting wage range is $24.59 - $29.64. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

The San Mateo Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) will bring crisis services to people in the community delivered by a dedicated team of mental health professionals with law enforcement involvement only where necessary. It is an exciting opportunity to expand much - needed crisis care in San Mateo County; in a way that is safe, accessible, and compassionate. Our goals are to help people to get support they need and reduce unnecessary law enforcement involvement, ER visits, and hospitalizations.
