Lab certificiation required

• The Medical Lab Technician uses the laboratory process to safely perform laboratory procedures.
• Working assignments are determined by the workload of laboratory test to be done.
• Follows departmental procedures and policies that reflect the services provided by the laboratory.
• Operates and maintains laboratory instruments.
• The technician will be assigned up to 40 hours a week and will rotate between day and night shifts according to the needs of the unit and staff.
• Will perform routine technical tasks in the laboratory to support results.
• Must be able to set up for testing, adjusting, calibrating, and maintaining equipment.
• The technician will be required to collect and prepare samples, solutions and specimen and ensure safe disposal of waste.
• Must have a good attitude and function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization.
• Must be able to address problems with instruments and not depend on someone else to resolve the problem.
• Will be responsible to assist with orientation, preceptorship, and management of personnel assigned to unit.
• Must be able to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
• Attendance to yearly mandatory education requirements is non-negotiable and will be the responsibility of the employee to arrange and attend sessions.
• Must be willing to perform any duty within scope of medical technologist as requested by laboratory manager or director.
