Job Summary Provides comprehensive psychiatric services to patients.
Responsibilities and Duties Provides psychiatric care.
Conducts psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and follow-up for patients with mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders.
Collaborates with primary care practitioners to support behavioral health integration, offering consultation, shared treatment planning, and warm hand-offs.
Maintains patient records by documenting diagnosis, pertinent assessments, and treatment plans in the electronic health record (EHR).
Documents services in the EHR following organizational documentation and coding requirements.
Adheres to established scheduling templates in provision of patient care, and reviews and responds to patient care communications, including signing EHR encounters, responding to patient messages, addressing telephone encounters, reviewing and documenting lab and diagnostic results and acting on e-prescription notifications, within timelines in established policies and procedures.
Participates in quality metrics directives and departmental quality improvement (QI) projects.
Maintains current knowledge of quality initiatives by regularly attending the practitioners', clinical site and practice meetings, and reviewing internal communications and resources.
Completes peer review.
Complies with Clinical Quality Measures expectations.
Modifies workflows as determined by department to attain QI objectives.
Consistently documents activities related to QI objectives.
Supervises Advanced Practice Practitioners (APPs).
Maintains supervisory agreement with each APP under supervision.
Maintains availability to respond to clinical questions raised by APP.
Performs regular chart review of APP and provides feedback when indicated.
Participates in Quality Improvement (QI) meetings with supervisees consistent with licensing board requirements for APP.
Communicates scheduling changes, such as planned PTO, with APP and Back-Up Supervising Physicians in order to ensure APPs will have coverage at all times.
Qualifications and Skills Graduate of an accredited school of Medicine and completion of Psychiatry Residency training.
Current licensure as a Physician in good standing with the North Carolina Medical Board.
Board Certification or Board eligible in Psychiatry.
