The LPN provides medical assistance to clients, including performing physical assessments and treating acute, minor illnesses. They are responsible for implementing physician orders, maintaining medical records, and ensuring compliance with medical policies.
Candidates must be a Licensed Practical Nurse with valid licensure and a valid driver's license with reliable transportation. Experience working with adolescents and proficiency in basic office software are preferred.
The Licensed Practical Nurse at National Youth Advocate Program provides medical assistance to the persons served including performing physical assessments and treating acute, minor illnesses as needed.
The LPN will perform duties including, but not limited to: Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program's mission, values, and philosophies. Perform physical assessments on each client upon arrival and intake. Identify abnormal findings and notify the client's physician or consulting physicians. Assure the need for medical treatment for illnesses and/or injuries are being met. Assure the administration and implementation of physician orders, and when appropriate, educate the appropriate staff on administering medication and/or treatments as needed. Assure all documentation and required record keeping is completed in a timely manner. Assess minor illnesses and administer non-prescription medications per approved Standing Orders Policy. Schedule and coordinate examinations by the consulting physician for each persons served. Assure the program's compliance with Medical Policies and Procedures as well as Standing Orders.
Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse with valid licensure. Nursing experience working with adolescents is preferred. Must be able to maintain compliance with attending agency required training programs. Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs. Scheduled Hours: every Friday 9:00am-5:00pm and as needed.
