Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with an Associate Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor’s in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing Valid RN License Nursing Experience: minimum of 12 months of experience as an RN in an acute care hospital in Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, Perinatal, or Antepartum Experience in the last 12 months may include up to 6 months in a management position, but must include at least 6 months in a direct patient care role in an acute care hospital Excellent communication skills Basic computer skills Strong work ethic and accountability Work one major holiday and one additional holiday if applicable, in addition to every other weekend throughout the duration of the 13-week RN Internal Contract agreement period.

Responsibilities: The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care in the UAMS Perinatal (E6) and/or Labor & Delivery (E5) units, located in the Harry P. Ward Clinical Tower. These units deliver comprehensive, high-risk obstetrical care to patients from across the state. The Perinatal Unit (E6) features 28 rooms and a newborn procedure area, supporting postpartum, well newborn, high-risk antepartum, and gynecologic patients. The Labor & Delivery Unit (E5) includes 14 LDR suites, triage beds, operating rooms, recovery space, and neonatal stabilization rooms, with approximately 300–330 deliveries per month. Both units emphasize patient- and family-centered care, allowing stable newborns to remain with their mothers to promote bonding. In this professional nursing role, the Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and triaging patient care, collaborating with providers, fellows, and interdisciplinary staff, and supporting seamless transitions of care. The RN works closely with patients and their families to develop and implement individualized care plans, coordinates appointments and referrals, and provides education on complex health conditions.
