The Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care under RN supervision, including monitoring vital signs and assisting with medical procedures. They are responsible for maintaining patient safety, documenting conditions, and adhering to infection control protocols.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and a Maryland Nursing Assistant Certification. A minimum of one year of recent direct patient care experience and current CPR certification are preferred.
Job Requirements The Patient Care Technician delivers direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, performing duties in accordance with the Maryland Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act. Key responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, assisting with specimen collection and phlebotomy, providing comfort measures, monitoring and documenting patient conditions, supporting various medical procedures, and ensuring patient safety and dignity. Additional tasks involve preparing equipment, performing post-mortem care, initiating CPR when required, adhering to infection control protocols, completing accurate documentation, and contributing to staff orientation and ongoing education. This full-time role demands effective collaboration with the healthcare team to uphold high standards of patient care.
