The registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care within the OBGYN department, focusing on promoting wellness and optimizing health. Key duties include triaging patients, documenting care plans, and educating patients and families on disease processes and preventative care.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing school and hold a valid Registered Nurse license from the State of Minnesota. A BSN and certification in a clinical specialty or previous OB/Gyn or L&D experience are preferred.
Within the context of the Hennepin Healthcare System Relationship-Based Care practice model, and under general supervision, the registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care by: Protecting, promoting wellness and optimizing health Triaging patients by assessing severity of symptoms and referral to appropriate setting or level of care Alleviating suffering through the treatment of the human response Partnering with the patient, their family and significant others Documenting interventions and an individualized plan of care Educating patient on their disease process Assuring continuity of care Educating patient and family in preventative care which promotes health and well being
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota
Certification in area of clinical specialty Previous OB/Gyn or L&D experience BSN Preferred. Bachelor of Nursing degree is strongly encouraged. Advancement in academic education will be discussed as part of individual professional development during the annual performance review.
