• ICU nurses assess, plan, implement and evaluate care services for patients with a broad range of health conditions.
• They need to be skilled in the assessment of patients and capable of using high tech equipment.
• ICU nurses must possess the physical, mental and emotional stamina to work with seriously ill patients and their loved ones.
• Some of the specialty skills performed: · Care of patients on ventilators · Calculate medication dosages and titrate potent medications. · Hemodynamic monitoring · External pacing · 12 lead EKG interpretation · Cardiac rhythm interpretation · Care of patients with arterial lines · Removal of venous sheaths (South) · Monitoring life support equipment · Provides care to balloon pump patient (South)

Qualifications

EDUCATION: High School Graduate or Equivalent Graduate of an accredited nursing program Minimum of one year RN experience preferred LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Licensure by the Alabama State Board of Nursing · After orientation demonstrates and maintains skills and knowledge pertinent to the practice and education of a Registered Nurse. · After orientation demonstrates competence of the care of the intensive care patient · Successful completion of an ACLS and PALS course within one year of hire About Us Lake Guntersville, a mountain-lakes jewel, is located approximately 30 miles from metro Huntsville – and is home to Marshall Medical Centers.
