The Sonographer provides diagnostic medical ultrasound exams, independently operating equipment, maintaining workflow, and performing quality assurance according to facility policies and professional standards. Responsibilities include validating orders, preparing rooms, performing exams using critical judgment, completing reports, and ensuring image upload and review.
Candidates must complete an accredited Sonography program and possess a high school equivalent or GED; less than one year of experience is acceptable, with new graduates preferred. Required certifications include BLS upon hire and RDMS/RVT eligibility within one year, alongside proficiency in basic computer knowledge and ultrasound equipment operation.
Completion of an accredited program in a school of Sonography (Required) Work Experience less than 1 year New graduates from an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program (Preferred) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of sterile technique and surgical procedures (Preferred proficiency) Basic computer knowledge. (Required proficiency) Knowledge of various types of ultrasound equipment. (Required proficiency) Basic knowledge of oxygen tanks, suction machines and IVAC pumps.
