The Nurse Intern functions under the direct and present supervision of a Registered Nurse while assisting in the Med Surg Department. This role involves supporting patient care activities as defined by the student's current nursing program requirements.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a nursing program leading to an RN license or be a recent graduate awaiting a re-take of the licensure exam. Required qualifications include completion of basic clinical skills as mandated by their program and holding a current BLS Certification.
Our Med Surg Department is looking for a Nurse Intern to join their team!
Hours will vary between 12-24 hours per week Shift times: 7pm-7am 7am-7pm
The Nurse Intern (NI) is a nursing student who is currently enrolled in a nursing program leading to a Registered Nurse, or who has failed the licensure exam and is awaiting a re-take of the exam and will then be identified as a Nurse Technician. The Nurse Intern always functions under the DIRECT and PRESENT supervision of the RN.
Frequently stand, walk, and sit. Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds while transferring and positioning patients and maneuvering equipment while using gait belts and transfer devices. Occasionally push and pull up to 25 pounds for transporting patients and moving equipment. Occasionally bend to the floor, squat, kneel, crouch and reach overhead to assist with patient care or retrieve equipment or supplies. Occasionally handle objects, smell, feel control knobs, switches and levers. Frequently carry objects weighing 10 pounds or less. Occasionally carry objects weighing 11 – 15 pounds.
