The provider will focus on utilizing a holistic approach to patient care, emphasizing health promotion, patient education, and counseling for a mixed population in a rural health clinic setting. Specific tasks include conducting thorough medical history/exams, managing comprehensive wellness and episodic primary care visits, and prescribing treatments as appropriate.
Candidates must possess a current Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license in California, along with a current BLS certification; ACLS certification is preferred. Duties involve collaborating with a supervising physician on diagnostics, treatment planning, patient counseling, and maintaining accurate health records.

Assume primary health care of specific patients under the direction of the Medical Director. Follow established standards, procedures and practices, and gives specific patient care directions to nursing and other staff.
Clinical Responsibilities: Provide primary clinical care of clients of all ages in accordance with standardized procedures. Clinical care includes the following: Obtaining health history Performing physical examination Assessing and managing physical and psychosocial problems. Developing a problem list, a diagnostic, therapeutic and teaching plan, which includes preventive health. Managing emergency cases. Patient education and counseling. Perform gynecologic screening examinations and diagnostic examinations for gynecologic problems. Offers family planning and STD counseling and services. Does not provide prenatal care. Assess and counsel families and individuals with mental health problems. Furnish and adjust medications in the formulary in accordance with the law. Order diagnostic studies such as laboratory and radiologic tests, as needed. Refer patients for specialty evaluation and care as needed. Maintain medical records of care given. Fills out all necessary forms. Review patient’s records, including laboratory data, for abnormalities and completeness and is responsible for providing appropriate follow-up. Precept and teach nurse practitioner students and other nursing personnel. Participate in Nurse Practitioner meetings and meetings with the Medical Director. Participates in special projects relevant to individual and community health. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops. Adhere to grooming policy. Demonstrate safe habits in the workplace with concern for the safety of employees and patients. Demonstrate use of good body mechanics. Wear and/or use appropriate safety equipment. Report unsafe conditions promptly. Cooperate with safety inspection teams, fire drills and disaster drills. Punctual and show a responsible and dependable pattern of attendance. Arrive for work promptly, return promptly from breaks, lunch, etc. Endeavor to remain health and use sick leave appropriately. Employee may transport medication, including expired medications, to and from the hospital pharmacy to the clinics. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care and/or services appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience.
Must adhere to all CMC policies and procedures. Observes hospital/department dress code. Wears hospital ID badge with name clearly visible.
