The primary goal is to increase physician efficiency by accurately and thoroughly documenting medical visits and procedures within the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. This involves ensuring correct procedure and diagnosis coding while anticipating physician needs to maintain clinic flow.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, along with a minimum of one year of related experience or equivalent education and training. Essential qualifications include working knowledge of medical terminology, proficiency in EMR use, good typing/grammar skills, and strong organizational abilities.
SUMMARY The primary goal of a Scribe is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the Physician they are working for. This employee allows the Doctor to focus on what is most important, the patient.
Working knowledge of medical terminology and accepted abbreviations. Efficient in using EMR and ability to accurately record information. Good typing, spelling, grammar and oral communication skills. Communication skills and the ability to coordinate and cooperate with multiple members of the health care team. Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow. Must comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when communicating patient information. Provides excellent patient care and is energetic and empathetic with patients. Consistently displays positive rapport with fellow employees. Cooperates with supervisory staff and Physicians. Demonstrates flexibility in job assignment.
LICENSES AND CREDENTIALS Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) certification is preferred, but not required.
SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY Requires proficient keyboarding skills, use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and image management system. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications.
