The Radiation Therapist applies ionizing radiation to patients across all age groups according to the Radiation Oncologist's prescription, while also educating, preparing, and reassuring patients and their families about treatment and post-treatment care. This role involves working under general supervision and participating in patient orientation and education sessions.
Candidates must be graduates of an AMA accredited School of Radiation Therapy Technology and hold current ARRT registration as a Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT) or be registry eligible, passing certification within six months if eligible upon hire. No prior work experience is required, though one year as an RTT is preferred.
