The START Coordinator provides on-call, person-centered, community-based clinical care coordination for program participants, focusing on community-based crisis intervention for individuals with IDD and mental health needs. Essential duties include maintaining an active caseload, developing evaluation and intervention plans, and providing on-call support on a rotational basis.
A Master's degree in a human service field such as social work, psychology, or counseling is required, along with a minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with IDD and behavioral health needs. Candidates must also be able to complete START Coordinator certification within 12 months of employment.
Knowledge of IDD and behavioral health needs, and ability to interact effectively with individuals experiencing those disorders Knowledge of interdisciplinary teams, and ability to communicate effectively with psychiatrists and other behavioral health clinicians Ability to promote the mission, vision, and values of RMHS in the workplace and community Demonstrated time management and organizational skills Excellent communication and meeting facilitation skills Ability to independently assess crisis situations and connect individuals to appropriate resources Knowledge of community resources related to behavioral health and IDD Comfortable utilizing de-escalation strategies as needed Knowledge of and compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations as they pertain to position, including HIPAA, scope of practice, documentation standards, ethics, etc. Maintain appropriate boundaries and professional demeanor Cultural humility and responsiveness QualificationsMinimum Qualifications Masters degree in social work, psychology, counseling, applied behavior analysis or other human service fields 2 years' experience working with people with IDD and behavioral health needs and their families The ability to work with complex systems and an interest in the population served Independent and organized with strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to complete START Coordinator certification within 12 months following employment
