Patient Access Rep I

• Under the direction and supervision of the Patient Registration Manager and in accordance with Hospital and Patient Registration Department policies and procedures: Registers outpatients, Admits, Discharges, and transfers patients to all levels of care within the Finger Lakes Health system.
• Interviews all patients and processes all pertinent patient information (demographic and financial).
• Verifies insurance coverage.
• Determines and facilitates obtaining the proper authorizations and pre-certifications required by insurance carrier guidelines.
• Is knowledgeable of and adheres to all Finger Lakes Health and Patient Registration department policies and procedures. na

Qualifications

• EDUCATION: Minimum:
• High School or equivalent.

Preferred

• AAS degree in Medical Assistant/Secretarial Science or experience in business with emphasis on health care or related field.
• Medical Terminology.

LICENSE

Professional certifications

Work experience

• Minimum:
• Previous business office or retail experience.

Preferred

• One year related hospital, business, or physician office experience.

SKILLS

• Minimum:
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and organizational skills.
• Computer literacy.
