Qualified Medication Aides (QMAs) will administer prescribed oral, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and optic medications to residents under the supervision of a community nurse, while also performing the functions of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Responsibilities include observing and reporting drug effects, documenting medication administration or refusal, and maintaining resident confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and complete a state-approved medication administration course, maintaining QMA certification. Certification as a CNA recognized by the state of Indiana is also required, along with the ability to communicate effectively and handle physical demands such as lifting up to 60 pounds frequently.
