The Patient Care Technician provides culturally sensitive and developmentally appropriate basic patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse, functioning as part of an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include direct support to nursing staff, operating medical equipment, collecting specimens, assisting patients with basic needs, and performing EKG readings.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, with no required prior work experience, although venipuncture and EKG experience is preferred. A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory, or it must be obtained during the orientation period.
Under the leadership of the departmental Nursing Director and the supervision of a licensed nurse, the Patient Care Technician provides culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate patient care. The Patient Care Technician works under close supervision of a licensed nurse and performs a variety of basic patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs of patients.
Requires a high school diploma in General Studies or a GED state certification.
No required work-related experience. Experience with venipuncture and obtaining EKGs preferred.
Requires and maintains a certification in Basic Life Saving (BLS). (If BLS certification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within the orientation period.)
Performs other related job duties as assigned.
