The Licensed Practical Nurse utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, ensuring culturally sensitive care appropriate to the patient's developmental age. Responsibilities include performing basic nursing skills, contributing to the care plan, documenting interventions, and maintaining professional nursing standards.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and graduation from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program, along with up to one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and training. Required credentials include a current LPN license and current Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification.
Under the leadership of the departmental Nursing Director and the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing culturally sensitive care that is appropriate for the patient’s developmental age. The Licensed Practical Nurse effectively interacts with patients, family members, and other health team members, follows the nursing plan of care as it has been formulated, and maintains the standards of professional nursing.
Requires a high school diploma or a GED and graduation from a Licensed Practical Nurse program from an accredited vocational or community college.
Requires up to one year of work-related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Requires a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse and a current certification in Basic Life Saving (BLS). (If BLS verification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within the orientation period.)
• Contributes to the development of the nursing plan of care through planning, data collection, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s care.
