The Medical Social Worker establishes care plans aligned with the physician's treatment, provides necessary crisis intervention, and assists caregivers in understanding factors affecting patient improvement. Responsibilities also include educating patients and caregivers and making appropriate community referrals for resources like public assistance or housing.
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree from a CSWE-accredited school and be currently licensed to practice in the serviced state, including specific Indiana certification if applicable. A minimum of one year of social work experience in a healthcare setting and current CPR/BLS certification are also mandatory requirements.
