The Emergency Department Technician executes approved activities related to patient care and the overall operation of the Emergency Department, adhering to all relevant policies and regulatory requirements. This includes delivering direct patient care, maintaining a safe environment, assisting with patient procedures, documentation in the EMR, and performing competencies like EKG, glucose testing, and phlebotomy.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, and one year of satisfactory experience as a Nurse's Aide in a hospital or prior EMT experience is preferred. A requirement for this role is current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, along with good communication skills.
The Emergency Department Technician performs approved activities related to patient care and the functioning of the Emergency Department. Adheres to Mercy Medical Center/department policies and procedures and JCAHO/regulatory agency requirements. Demonstrates and promotes service excellence at all times. Delivers direct care to patients and creates a safe comfortable environment. Assist with selected procedures associated with admission, discharge and transfer of patients. Documentation in the Electronic Medical Record Assists with transfer of patient to a bed, wheelchair or stretcher utilizing patient care equipment safely as needed Performs and maintains competencies related to EKG's, glucose testing and phlebotomy Participates in customer service activities
