Licensed Counselor Full-Time | Newport News, VA Flexible Full-Time Schedule Options: Monday–Friday with Rotating Saturday or Tuesday–Saturday

As a Licensed Counselor at our Newport News, VA location, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey. Through patient-centered care and evidence-based practices, you will help patients build hope, stability, and lasting recovery.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the clinical team in patient care decisions and attend all clinical meetings
• Assess counseling needs and conduct substance use evaluations using DSM criteria and ASAM guidelines
• Develop and implement individualized counseling treatment plans
• Provide counseling services, including individual, group, and family sessions
• Reassess patients and update treatment plans as clinically indicated
• Develop discharge and continuum-of-care plans to ensure appropriate transitions
• Document all counseling services, assessments, referrals, and follow-ups in the patient’s clinical record
• Maintain an assigned patient caseload, including case management and clinical charting
• Coordinate support services for patients and families and communicate with referral sources
• Attend team meetings, complete required training, and assist with administrative tasks

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work from an accredited college or university (as required by Virginia regulations)
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in substance use treatment, mental health counseling, or a related field
• Active licensure in accordance with 12VAC30-130-5020, including:
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
• Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
