The Certified Nurse Midwife is responsible for providing direct primary care medical services to patients within the scope of law and regulation, with the main duty being to assist women through all stages of pregnancy, including childbirth and post-delivery care. This role involves close collaboration with obstetricians and gynecologists for diagnosing and treating women with acute and chronic illnesses.
Candidates must be licensed as a Certified Nurse Midwife and hold Board Certification, DEA certification, and New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification. Essential competencies include strong communication, high organization, attention to detail, cultural competence with the Hispanic population, and experience working with poverty-level populations.
