The practitioner performs therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care procedures, providing assessment, treatment, and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies. This role involves implementing the patient's plan of care based on diagnosis and physician orders while ensuring patient, family, and provider cooperation.
Candidates must be graduates of a CoARC-accredited two-year respiratory care program and possess two years of clinical and practical experience. Required credentials include RCP-CA, NRP, and BLS certification, along with knowledge of respiratory therapy principles and basic computer application skills.

Graduate of a two-year respiratory care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
Certification & licensure
2 years of clinical and practical experience as typically acquired in a similar environment.
Knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including some experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies. Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Capable of performing routine or emergency respiratory care as well as a basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline
General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), and EPIC.
Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
Build collaborate relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
