As a PET/CT Technologist you will:
Consistently produce high quality NM and/or PET images using knowledge of NM education, IV skills, computer processing and image enhancement. Prepares and administers medications and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with established procedure. Performs Nuclear Medicine examinations in accordance with the protocols established by the radiologists. Demonstrates proficiency in operating gamma cameras, SPECT/CT and/or PET/CT machines, uptake probes, well counters, dose calibrators, survey meters and all ancillary equipment within Nuclear Medicine department. Accurately performs documentation in all computer systems within Nuclear Medicine and Imaging Services pertinent to Nuclear Medicine (RIS, PACS, NMIS, image reformatting)
Performs Hot Lab functions including the acceptance, maintenance and documentation of radiopharmaceuticals. Understands principles of radiation safety.
Properly identifies patients, reviews orders and selects scanning protocols in order to maximize quality and safe patient care in Nuclear Medicine. Performs periodic QA checks as required by state and federal law.
Maximizes patient throughput and demonstrates teamwork with coworkers by managing large patient volume.
Works with the Director, Manager and Radiologist to develop policies, procedures and protocols including dose reduction activities.
Maintains written protocols for each site and ensures that the protocols in the systems are consistent with the written protocols.
Participates in performance improvement initiatives, image quality checks and other duties as assigned. Qualifications include:
High School Diploma or GED required
Graduate of an AMA/JRCERT Accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology
State of Maryland Nuclear Medicine Technologist license
ARRT (N)(CT) or NMTCB (CNMT) required
Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
2 years Nuclear Medicine Technology experience preferred
