The Phlebotomist performs specimen collection techniques including venipuncture, capillary draws, and instructions for urine and culture collection, ensuring all specimens adhere to laboratory guidelines. Responsibilities also include specimen accessioning, proper transport, infection control, patient identification, and performing drug screen collections as assigned.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or equivalent and have completed an accredited phlebotomy or medical assistant program including clinical experience, or have previous phlebotomy experience. Certification from a nationally recognized agency such as NHA, ASCP, AMT, NCCT, or ACA is required.
