The technologist will explain procedures to patients, prepare and administer radiopharmaceutical doses under physician direction, and perform diagnostic studies using imaging equipment to detect radiation and produce organ images. They must also measure radioactivity and maintain quality control of all equipment.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology and must be registered with either ARRT or NMTCB, holding current BLS/CPR Certification. A minimum of an Associate Degree is required for this full-time position.
Explains procedure to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculate doses, and administer doses, under direction of Physician Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by Physician, using scanner or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film Measures radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers and scintillation detectors Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials Maintains quality control of all equipment Safeguard the privacy of patient health information Attends required meetings Performs related work as required
