The Certified Pharmacy Technician prepares medications for all patient types under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, assisting with all pharmacy duties including computer charge entries for inpatient and outpatient services. Essential functions include filling various medication types like unit doses and IV admixtures, maintaining inventory on automated dispensing units, and preparing pre-outpatient surgery orders.
Candidates are required to possess Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT), a high school diploma or equivalent, mathematical proficiency, and data entry experience, along with an active State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician License. Preferred qualifications include previous computer experience, experience with automated dispensing units, hospital pharmacy experience, or an Associate’s Degree.
The Certified Pharmacy Technician prepares medication needed for any patient type under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. Assists the pharmacist with all aspects of the pharmacy duties. Is responsible for inpatient and outpatient computer charge entries. Maintains appropriate inventory levels and medications needed in automated dispensing units. Assists the pharmacy buyer in inventory control and is able to order through wholesaler in his/her absence. Works in compliance with Federal and State regulations and HFAP accreditation standards and financial management.
