This position primarily involves providing comprehensive pastoral care and spiritual support to patients, their families, and hospital staff, focusing on listening ministry, grief work, and ethical decision-making. The chaplain also consults with medical teams, provides sacramental services, and acts as a liaison between the Medical Center and the community.
Candidates must possess a Master of Divinity degree and typically three years of parish pastoral experience or equivalent, along with four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent experience/certification. Essential requirements include excellent communication, problem-solving, leadership skills, and the ability to minister to diverse religious backgrounds.
This position provides pastoral care and spiritual support to patients at the Medical Center while also ministering to the patients’ families and hospital staff members. This position also provides a linkage between the Medical Center and the community. This position fosters an understanding of the relationship between faith, illness, and the emotional and mental conflicts that arise, and seeks to motivate and invite healthy, meaningful use of each individual’s religious beliefs and attitudes in the management of his/her physical, emotional, and/or mental health.
Certifications and Licensures
Clinical Pastoral Education Required Equivalent Experience - Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) with one year residency in a hospital based, certified program preferred. OR 1 unit of CPE required upon hire with other 3 units obtains within 1 year of hire OR 1 unit of CPE with minimum of 5 years chaplaincy experience OR Certified Chaplain
