The Occupational Therapist will provide assessments and implement individualized treatment plans for patients within the behavioral health units. They will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team including psychiatrists, nurses, and recreation therapists to support patient recovery and discharge preparation.
Candidates must have graduated from an accredited Occupational Therapy program and successfully completed the American Occupational Therapy certification examination. A valid license or limited permit to practice in the state of Washington is required.

WORK SCHEDULE Part-Time / 24 hours per week Day Shift ABOUT THE CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND LEARNING The new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning on the UW Medical Center – Northwest campus, offers an unparalleled opportunity to transform mental health care and to improve mental health care training in our state. Located in North Seattle, the new facility will feature 75 longer-term adult psychiatry beds, 25 geriatric psychiatry beds, 50 medical/surgical beds focused on patients with psychiatric comorbidities, and a state-of-the-art neuromodulation program. It will also house an interdisciplinary training and workforce development program focused on preparing and supporting the next generation of behavioral health providers for Washington State. The six-story building will be a beautiful place to work with lots of windows, natural lighting and open-concept spaces and will offer amenities including a new kitchen and dining area for patients, staff and visitors. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Work alongside Psychiatrists and Hospitalists, RNs, Recreation Therapists, and CNAs. Complete initial Occupational Therapy assessments for all patients admitted per caseload. Identify care needs, develops an individualized treatment plan and implements that plan via OT group sessions and/or individual treatments for patients with a wide array of psychiatric conditions. Provide patient education and preparation for discharge, including written recommendations for follow up care as needed. Provide personalized care with compassion, dignity, and respect. REQUIREMENTS Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program and successful completion of American Occupational Therapy certification examination. Licensed by the state of Washington as an Occupational Therapist or has a valid limited permit issued by the state of Washington to practice occupational therapy. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
