The counselor provides intensive in-home services and mental health skill building to clients and their families. This includes coordinating treatment plans, conducting intake interviews, and facilitating access to community resources.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services related field and possess a QMHP certification. A valid Virginia driver's license and an excellent driving record are also required.
Knowledge and skill in professional psycho-educational techniques and awareness of needs of emotionally and socially maladjusted clients. Able to make independent decisions and establish an effective and harmonious working relationship between clients, families and community. Able to utilize community resources. Able to develop close working relationships with the program staff; with St. Joseph's Villa staff, with staff of related agencies and with public officials and other community representatives. Able to appropriately use proprietary software. Knowledge of team building techniques and staff development procedures as they relate to the treatment process. Knowledge of basic first aid procedures. Able to work within a team model of management. Mature judgment and a high degree of professional skill.
Conduct intake interviews and collaborate with clients and placing agencies to determine treatment scope. Coordinate all phases of the treatment program for assigned clients, ensuring adherence to program guidelines and objectives. Participate in the development and implementation of service plans to effectively support individual clients and families. Provide professional services to clients, facilitating access to community activities and resources. Research community-based organizations and government agencies to identify resources for client support. Develop progress and evaluation reports that meet both organizational and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate case records for clients under supervision, in compliance with state licensing and accreditation standards. Review and update Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) and necessary paperwork within specified timeframes. Prepare narrative, tabular, and statistical reports for management, service boards, and regulatory agencies. Ensure accurate billing for services in compliance with funding requirements. Utilize approved behavior management techniques to support clients in crisis situations. Provide supportive assistance in activities of daily living, money management, and other basic needs as required. Lead clients in recreational, educational, or treatment activities as needed. Support clients in developing independent living skills and model appropriate professional behavior. Participate in scheduled training programs for professional development as required by the organization and regulatory bodies.
