The phlebotomist is responsible for performing blood draws and laboratory procedures while ensuring accurate specimen collection and handling. They must also maintain professional communication with staff and adhere to all safety, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and at least one year of clinical phlebotomy experience. A phlebotomy certification, a valid driver's license, and reliable transportation are preferred.
Perform blood draws and other laboratory procedures in a professional and courteous manner. Verify patient identities and ensure accurate record-keeping for all procedures. Educate patients on the collection process, including specimen handling and storage. Accurately label and prepare specimens for transport, ensuring their integrity. Communicate effectively with lab staff, management, and healthcare professionals. Adhere to safety protocols and comply with OSHA, HIPAA regulations, and laboratory policies. Participate in ongoing training to maintain and update phlebotomy and lab procedure skills.
