Responsibilities

Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department Position Status: .9 fte (72 hours per pay period) - rotational days and nights (12-hour shifts); Two (2) weekends out of every six (6) weeks.

Summary

• The Emergency Department (ED) RN is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. The RN assesses, triages, and treats patients with a wide range of medical conditions, ensuring timely and effective care in collaboration with the healthcare team.

• Functions: Patient Assessment and Triage - Perform rapid assessment and triage based on patient acuity. Provide direct patient care in the ER, including triage, stabilization, treatment, and discharge planning. Emergency Intervention - Respond to life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, and trauma. Documentation and Reporting - Accurately document patient care and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR). Demonstrate compliance with all regulatory standards, infection prevention, and patient safety protocols. Communication and Collaboration - Communicate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members. Provide patient education on plan of care, discharge instructions, and medications. Patient Advocacy and Safety - Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes appropriately. Emotional and Crisis Support - Provide emotional support to patients and families during traumatic events. Maintain professionalism and composure in high-stress situations.
