Clinical Lab Technologist

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (e.g., ASCP, AMT) or eligibility to obtain certification.
• Knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and quality control standards.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and data management.
• Ability to comply with safety and regulatory requirements in a clinical laboratory environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting.
• Advanced certifications or specializations in areas such as microbiology, hematology, or molecular diagnostics.
• Proficiency with laboratory automation systems and advanced diagnostic technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated through prior work experience.
• Experience with laboratory accreditation processes such as CAP or CUA.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids using automated and manual techniques.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
• Analyze test results, identify abnormalities, and document findings accurately in laboratory information systems.
• Adhere to established quality control procedures and participate in proficiency testing to maintain laboratory accreditation standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to discuss test results and provide technical expertise.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
• Maintain detailed records of laboratory activities, reagent usage, and equipment maintenance.
• Stay current with advances in laboratory technology and participate in continuing education opportunities.
