Perform a full range of clinical laboratory procedures across multiple specialties to provide reliable results for patient diagnosis and treatment. Assist the administrative director with validation, quality control, and the training of other personnel.
Requires an Associate's Degree in Medical Technology and a State of Florida license as a clinical laboratory technician. Candidates must have at least two years of technical experience and a current AHA BLS certification.
This position serves as a laboratory technician generalist; works towards implementing the departmental goals of standardization, realignment, and maintaining 100% proficiency in the CAP, CLIA, AHCA, CMS and TJC accreditations; Has responsibility for technically performing the full range of clinical laboratory procedures (as licensed) including Chemistry, Hematology, Immunohematology (Blood Bank), Serology, and Microbiology; and performs Phlebotomy and Arterial Blood Gas collections.
Performs a variety of laboratory tests, many of which are complex, involving numerous steps and techniques, and requires the use of professional judgment. Professional application of the principles, theories, and techniques of medical technology are used to produce consistently reliable test results which aid the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Trains other personnel and provides input in job evaluations. Assist laboratory administrative director in performance of general lab duties to include validation, quality control, nursing and physician support.
