The Certified Surgical Technologist facilitates safe surgical procedures by preparing the operating suite and maintaining a sterile field. They assist surgeons by handling instruments and supplies while ensuring all equipment is organized and accounted for throughout the surgery.
Candidates must hold a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or LPN credential and possess 3-5 years of multispecialty operating room experience. A Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is also required.
The Certified Surgical Technologist serves as the first scrub in the surgical suite. Surgical Technologists prepare operating rooms, arranges equipment, and ensuring all essential instrumentation and sterile supplies are prepared for surgical procedures.
