The Ultrasound Technologist will operate ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic imaging studies and interpret images to assess organ structure and function. They are responsible for patient interaction, including explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and collaborating with physicians to provide accurate diagnostic information.
Candidates must hold a professional certification such as RVT, RVS, or VS, along with additional ARDMS certification in Abdomen, Breast, or OB-GYN. A current BCLS certificate and graduation from an accredited vascular ultrasound program are also required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): Interact with patients to explain the procedure, obtain relevant medical history, and address any concerns, ensure patient comfort and privacy during the ultrasound examination, and assist with positioning patients to optimize imaging Operate ultrasound machines to perform diagnostic imaging studies as requested by physicians or other healthcare providers, select appropriate imaging techniques and settings to capture clear and accurate images of the targeted anatomy or pathology Use the transducer (probe) to transmit high-frequency sound waves into the body and capture the returning echoes to create real-time images, manipulate the transducer and adjust imaging parameters to obtain multiple views and optimize image quality Interpret ultrasound images in real-time to assess the structure, size, shape, and function of organs and tissues within the body, identify any abnormalities or pathology that may be present and collaborate with radiologists or physicians to provide accurate diagnostic information In addition to conventional diagnostic ultrasound imaging, you may perform Doppler ultrasound studies to evaluate blood flow patterns and detect abnormalities such as vascular occlusions, stenosis, or thrombosis
