Engage and inspire members to create and meet their own recovery goals through meaningful conversations and peer support. Provide consultation to the team to reinforce a recovery-centered culture and respond to critical mental health emergencies using de-escalation skills.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED, a valid Peer Certification, and lived experience as a beneficiary of the public Behavioral Health system. Candidates must have at least one year of experience supporting individuals with behavioral health challenges and a valid driver's license.

The Peer Recovery Coach I engages, inspires, and facilitates meaningful conversations with members served that assist the members to explore, create, and meet their own recovery goals. Peer Recovery Coaches provide consultation to the team to promote and reinforce Telecare’s Recovery Culture as defined by the Telecare Recovery Centered Clinical System (RCCS) in which each member’s point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into services and self-help programming. Additionally, Peer Recovery Coaches respond to critical situations with high-level engagement and de-escalation skills which support a least restrictive environment for members served experiencing an emergency related to a mental health/addiction challenge.

obtain Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification through CalMHSA prior to hire date and maintained throughout employment.
obtain Traditional Health Worker (THW) Certification through OHA as a Peer Support Specialist or Peer Wellness Specialist prior to hire date and maintained throughout employment.
obtain Certified Peer Counselor (CPC) through HCA prior to hire date and maintained throughout employment and certified by the Department of Health (DOH) as an Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) within 60 days of employment.
obtain Peer and Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) certification through AHCCCS prior to hire date and maintained throughout employment.
· One (1) year or part-time equivalent of experience supporting members served with behavioral health challenges
· For Los Angeles County CRTs experience must be one (1) year or part-time equivalent of experience supporting individuals with mental disabilities
· Two (2) years’ full-time experience, or part-time equivalent, working in a mental health program serving persons with severe and persistent mental disabilities, or a bachelor’s degree with a major in psychology, social work or behavioral sciences
· Experience as a beneficiary of the public Behavioral Health system of care
· Must be at least 18 years of age
· Must be CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certified (hands-on course) on date of employment or prior to providing direct client care and maintain current certification throughout employment
· All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, valid driver’s license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, twist, squat, kneel and lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or less as well as to frequently sit, walk, reach, bend and do simple and power grasping. The position requires manual deviation, repetition and dexterity.
